2 NYC residents found dead inside glossy Borgata hotel in Atlantic City under mysterious circumstances

A pair of New York City residents were found dead inside a room at the Borgata casino hotel in Atlantic City under mysterious circumstances Sunday afternoon, prosecutors said. The bodies of Brooklyn man Wei Guo Liang, 68, and Staten Island woman Baoyi Bowie Zheng, 36, were both discovered in one of the rooms at the glossy high-rise by authorities around 5 p. m., the Atlantic Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday. Zheng’s cause of death was a broken neck while Liang succumbed to self-inflicted stab wounds, autopsies determined, according to prosecutors. The prosecutor’s office did not provide more information, including whether or not this was a murder-suicide. A spokesperson said in response to a follow-up email the office did not want to further comment on the possible manner of death until the probe is wrapped up. The major crimes unit with the prosecutor’s office and Atlantic City police are probing the case. An email to MGM Resorts International, which operates the Borgata, was not immediately returned Wednesday morning. The Borgata is promoted as an “unparalleled travel experience on the East Coast,” which includes 2, 000 rooms, a sprawling casino and a host of other amenities.
