Time Mission, a new interactive experience opening in Center City

Philadelphia’s entertainment landscape is leveling up this fall with the arrival of Time Mission, a fast-paced, team-based adventure experience. The first Pennsylvania location opens in Philadelphia this Friday, marking LOL Entertainment’s third immersive concept in the city. It joins the Museum of Illusions in Old City and Sandbox VR in Rittenhouse, offering locals a fresh form of interactive fun.

At its core, Time Mission invites players to travel through time—past, present, and future—while completing a series of mental, physical, and skill-based challenges. Teams of two to five players navigate 25 immersive “portals,” each featuring a unique theme and difficulty level. As they race against the clock, players earn points, blending the thrill of an escape room with the replayability of an arcade.

“It’s this immersive, time travel-themed adventure where players work together to complete missions across different worlds,” said Stacy Stec, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for LOL Entertainment. “You might find yourself in ancient ruins one moment and a futuristic landscape the next. It’s high-energy, social, and designed for teamwork—something everyone can enjoy, whether you’re with friends, family, or coworkers.”

Each challenge takes about two to three minutes to complete, and players can return to their favorite rooms as often as they like. “It’s really a choose-your-own-adventure experience,” Stec explained. “If you love a particular room, you can replay it as many times as you want. If you prefer to skip the physical ones, you can. There’s truly something for everyone.”

Philadelphia has become a creative hub for LOL Entertainment’s new concepts. “We’ve got Philly roots,” Stec said. “We opened the Museum of Illusions here in 2022, then Sandbox VR earlier this year. When it came to launching our first Time Mission in Pennsylvania, we knew we wanted to do it here.”

This choice reflects the city’s appetite for social, experiential entertainment. “Philly loves to show up and have fun,” Stec added. “It’s a city that values creativity and culture, and people here really connect through shared experiences. We’ve seen that again and again with our other properties. These immersive attractions just resonate across communities.”

The Philadelphia location is Time Mission’s fourth U.S. site, following openings in Rhode Island, New York, and Virginia. Notably, it is the largest and most ambitious yet. “Philly is by far the biggest market Time Mission has entered,” Stec said. “We’re excited to see how it performs in Center City.”

While escape rooms and virtual reality (VR) lounges are already familiar to local audiences, Time Mission stands apart thanks to its modular design and replayable structure. Each portal can be swapped or updated without lengthy renovations, allowing the attraction to constantly evolve.

“You can walk into the same room twice and face a completely different challenge,” Stec noted. “It’s always new, always surprising.”

The concept was created by Time Mission founder Pieter Martens, who began with a small-scale test inside a go-kart venue before expanding to full-size entertainment centers. LOL Entertainment partnered with Martens to bring the brand to new markets nationwide.

Stec believes experiences like Time Mission represent the next wave of social entertainment. “People, especially younger audiences, are looking for ways to connect outside of their phones,” she said. “They’re not just going to a bar or restaurant anymore; they want to engage, compete, and share real-world experiences. That’s what immersive entertainment is all about.”

Time Mission welcomes players ages 6 and up, making it a great fit for families, date nights, friend groups, and corporate team-building events. “We’re known for bringing fun experiences,” Stec said. “As long as people know that, they know they’re in for a treat.”

To celebrate the grand opening, Time Mission is offering complimentary admission through Sunday, with a limited number of free tickets available to those who register in advance.

With Time Mission’s arrival, Philadelphia continues to cement its reputation as a destination for cutting-edge, interactive entertainment—one time portal at a time.
