Sanae Takaichi was elected as the Liberal Democratic Party’s new president on October 4th, marking a historic moment as the party’s first female leader.
After defeating agriculture minister Shinjiro Koizumi in a runoff, Takaichi took to the stage and declared, “I ask everybody to work like a horse.”
