T-Mobile once again proves its edge with new advanced 5G offerings

T-Mobile Launches Two New Products for Business Customers

T-Mobile is once again courting business customers with the launch of two new offerings: Edge Control and T-Platform.

Edge Control: Like a Private Network, Minus the Hassle

Edge Control is a network solution designed for time-sensitive and high-security use cases – the kind of workloads where even a split-second delay can matter. Built on top of T-Mobile’s 5G Advanced network, it harnesses local breakout and the principles of edge computing to process data closer to where it originates, instead of letting it travel across the country as normal internet traffic does.

This approach not only helps minimize delays but also curtails security risks, making it essential for businesses that require mission-critical connectivity. For example, hospitals can’t afford the reliability issues and security concerns inherent to Wi-Fi.

Applications that can benefit from low latency include:

  • Video streaming
  • Surveillance
  • Data uploads
  • AI solutions
  • Real-time equipment and inventory monitoring

While private wireless networks are an alternative to traditional connectivity solutions, they can be costly to set up and maintain. That’s where Edge Control comes in — facilitating smooth routing of data between intended destinations, ensuring low latency, greater control over data location, and effortless scalability.

Edge Control also does not require new infrastructure, and businesses can configure it to meet their operational and compliance needs.

T-Platform: A Centralized Control Panel for the 5G Ecosystem

Managing different devices and connection types can be a daunting task for enterprises. To address this, T-Mobile has launched T-Platform, a portal that provides better visibility and control over the 5G ecosystem along with real-time insights to optimize connectivity strategies.

This centralized hub acts as a control panel, allowing users to monitor everything from 5G internet to IoT deployments. The simpler access to information, devices, and diagnostics enables faster decision-making, streamlined operations, and simplified scalability.

T-Mobile’s Unique Market Position

Despite proclaiming it has the best network, T-Mobile’s growth has been stagnating. To maintain its performance trajectory, the company is exploring new avenues, including providing specialized solutions to business customers.

T-Mobile is the only company to have deployed 5G Advanced — a critical technology enabling Edge Control. This puts it ahead of rivals AT&T and Verizon, who have only just begun rolling out 5G Standalone (5G SA) networks.

In late August, T-Mobile also announced SuperMobile, a plan tailored specifically for business customers.
