**Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Protests in Nashik, Demands Compensation for Flood-Hit Farmers**
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) workers staged a protest outside the District Collector’s office in Nashik on Wednesday, urging the government to provide immediate compensation to flood-affected farmers in Marathwada and North Maharashtra. They also demanded the swift implementation of the announced government relief package.
During the protest, the party submitted a memorandum to the district administration, outlining their key demands. The memorandum highlighted that thousands of acres of farmland across Marathwada and North Maharashtra have been devastated by recent torrential rains and floods. Many farmers have suffered severe losses, including damage to their homes, livestock, wells, and agricultural infrastructure.
“This is not merely a natural calamity but a humanitarian crisis that has crippled farmers’ lives,” the memorandum stated.
The party pointed out that the government had announced a relief package amounting to Rs 31,628 crore, primarily due to pressure from opposition parties. However, they criticized the slow and unorganized implementation of the package, which has left lakhs of people on the verge of hunger.
The memorandum called for immediate financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per hectare for farmers whose land and crops have been completely destroyed by the floods. Additionally, it demanded a special pre-damage compensation package for those whose wells and farm structures were washed away.
The memorandum was signed by several prominent leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT), including deputy leader Datta Gaikwad, district chief D. G. Suryavanshi, former MLA Vasant Gite, metropolitan chief Prathamesh Gite, former mayor Yatin Wagh, and other office bearers.
The protest underscores the urgent need for timely government action to support farmers grappling with the aftermath of devastating floods in the region.
