In Match 6 of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup held in Colombo, India secured a thrilling victory over Pakistan. The Women in Blue successfully defended a target of 247 runs despite being bowled out, restricting Pakistan to 159 all out. Despite Sidra Amin’s valiant effort, Pakistan fell short.
**Pakistan Struggle From the Outset**
Pakistan had a difficult start, losing three early wickets for just 26 runs by the 12th over. One of the key talking points was the controversial run-out of Muneeba Ali. Amidst the falling wickets, Sidra Amin stood firm, trying to hold the innings together.
She found some support from Natalia Pervaiz, who scored 33, and Sidra Nawaz, who contributed 14 runs. However, successive dismissals of Nawaz and Rameen Shamim saw Pakistan slump to 146 for 7, leaving the chase largely in Amin’s hands.
**Amin’s Half-Century Goes in Vain**
Sidra Amin’s lone resistance ended in the 40th over when she was dismissed by Sneh Rana. Amin played a gritty innings of 81 runs off 106 balls, including 9 fours and 1 six. This was her 13th half-century in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs).
In 79 WODI matches, Amin has amassed 2,352 runs at an average of 33.12, with a strike rate of 64.06. Alongside her 13 half-centuries, she has scored six centuries, highlighting her importance to the Pakistan batting line-up.
**Maiden WODI Fifty Against India**
According to ESPNcricinfo, this innings marked Amin’s first-ever half-century against India in WODIs. It was also her second 50-plus score in the Women’s ODI World Cup, a tournament in which she holds an average of 24.23.
Despite her stellar performance, Pakistan could not chase down the target, but Amin’s knock remains a standout in the contest.
