The rising incidents of small and big crimes, along with broad-daylight murders, have disturbed Nashik’s peace and created unease among its citizens. This growing unrest has finally drawn the attention of political leaders.
A few days ago, State School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse held a meeting with Police Commissioner Sandeep Arnik and instructed him to restore law and order in the city. Following this, BJP MLAs have also urged the Commissioner to take strong measures to eliminate criminal activities in Nashik.
Looking at the last few months, it is clear that the city’s peace and harmony have been seriously disturbed. In the past six months alone, more than 40 murders have taken place, creating an atmosphere of anxiety and anger among residents. Many locals feel that law and order exist only on paper.
Taking serious note of the situation, Minister Bhuse met Police Commissioner Arnik and directed him to implement necessary actions. Subsequently, Nashik BJP MLAs Devayani Pharande, Seema Hire, and Rahul Dhikale, along with city BJP president Sunil Kedar, also met the Commissioner to present their concerns.
A day earlier, these MLAs had met Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to inform him about the deteriorating law and order situation in Nashik.
Apart from murders, other issues such as the spread of MD drugs, rising youth addiction, and increasing chain-snatching crimes have become more prevalent. These problems have provided the opposition with reasons to criticize both the police and the ruling party. With the upcoming municipal elections, the issue could easily become a significant political weapon.
Realizing the potential impact, ruling leaders have started holding meetings and expressing solidarity with citizens’ concerns. Consequently, the police have become more alert and have begun implementing stricter measures. These include externment orders, public processions of criminals, and strict action against the underworld, aiming to instil fear among offenders.
### Instructions Given to the Police
Minister Dadaji Bhuse and BJP MLAs instructed the Police Commissioner to switch to alert mode with the following directives:
– Rein in all criminal activities
– Conduct “Operation All Out” to track down criminals
– Maintain 24-hour patrols in sensitive areas
– Take strict action against drug peddlers
– Enhance monitoring through CCTV and ensure offenders are punished
– Break up gang wars
– Activate Mohalla (local) committees for better community involvement
– Take even small citizen complaints seriously
With these focused directions, the police have now started taking stricter steps to curb crime and restore peace in Nashik. Citizens hope these measures will bring back the safety and harmony the city desperately needs.
