The new documentary, *Ozzy: No Escape from Now*, offers a heartfelt look into the late rockstar Ozzy Osbourne’s prolonged struggle with severe pain and depression during the final years of his life. Filmed between 2021 and 2025, the film also sheds light on his battles with Parkinson’s disease, which worsened following complications from neck surgery in 2019.
**Family Frustration and Nerve Damage**
Ozzy’s son, Jack Osbourne, expressed deep frustration over the impact of the surgery. He revealed that the surgeon “stripped him of his abilities to move,” and said, “It makes me so angry because I felt like all of this could’ve been avoided. The Parkinson’s is progressing, but the main problem is the nerve damage from the bad neck surgery.”
Close friend Billy Morrison also opened up about how painful it was to watch Ozzy suffer once his touring days were behind him.
**Declining Health and Emotional Struggles**
Two years after the 2019 surgery, Ozzy experienced a gradual and painful decline in his health. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, disclosed that the surgeon had “caused even more damage” by inserting unnecessary metal plates.
“Some days, he wishes he was dead. He’s in so much pain, he can’t take it. He just wishes he could go,” Sharon shared in the documentary, revealing the depth of Ozzy’s emotional and physical anguish.
**Unwavering Commitment to Music**
Despite his immense suffering, Ozzy remained fiercely determined to continue performing. In the documentary, he apologized to Sharon for “being a burden” and declared, “I am determined to get back on stage even if I have to be nailed to a board and wheeled on. Survival is my legacy.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 and was laid to rest in Buckinghamshire, England. His legacy as the Prince of Darkness endures, marked not only by his iconic music but also by his courage in facing life’s toughest battles.
