The state home department has approved the establishment of a new police station for the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). This police station will operate under the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
The new station will be created by bifurcating the existing Panvel City police station and Ulve police station. It will be staffed with a manpower strength of 108 police personnel, as stated in the government resolution (GR) issued on Monday.
Furthermore, the state Director General of Police (DGP) has been directed to submit a detailed proposal defining the boundaries of the Panvel City police station, Ulve police station, and the newly proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport police station.
The home department emphasized the importance of this new police station by highlighting NMIA’s expected capacity to handle 360 crore metric tonnes of cargo and nine crore passengers annually. Considering the safety requirements related to cargo, passenger traffic, and maintaining law and order in the area, the establishment of a dedicated police station is deemed necessary.
The proposal for the new police station, submitted by the Additional Director General of Police, has been officially approved by the state authorities.
