Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Directs Immediate Development of Airports at Baramati, Yavatmal, Dharashiv, and Latur

Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to take swift action towards the development of airports at Baramati, Yavatmal, Dharashiv, and Latur.

Review Meeting on Baramati Airport

A review meeting focused on the development of Baramati Airport, including the addition of a night landing facility, was held at the Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The meeting was attended by senior officials such as Additional Chief Secretary of Finance O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Aviation) Sanjay Sethi, Principal Secretary of Planning Saurabh Vijay, and MADC Vice Chairperson and Managing Director Swati Pandey.

Other senior representatives from MIDC, the Industries Department, and Pune Zilla Parishad were also present. Additionally, Divisional Commissioner of Pune Chandrakant Pulkundwar, CEO of Pune Zilla Parishad Gajanan Patil, and MIDC Regional Officer Hanumant Patil joined the meeting via video conferencing.

Directions for Baramati Airport Development

During the meeting, Deputy CM Pawar directed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by MIDC for the night landing facility at Baramati Airport should be handed over to MADC promptly. The Industries Department was requested to issue a government resolution for the formal transfer of the airport.

Further, Pawar instructed MADC to develop a comprehensive master plan and DPR for the overall upgradation of Baramati Airport. He emphasized that MADC should work in coordination with the Airports Authority of India to conduct necessary surveys and prepare an estimated budget for the proposed development works.

This initiative highlights the Maharashtra government’s commitment to strengthening regional air connectivity by enhancing airport infrastructure across the state. The planned developments aim to support night operations and provide improved passenger services, thereby boosting the strategic growth of aviation facilities in Maharashtra.
