After the tournament’s conclusion, Naqvi expressed his willingness to hand over the trophy to the Indian team but insisted that the players must come in person to collect it.

The meeting was chaired by Naqvi himself, with Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar representing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the talks ended without any resolution regarding the trophy handover.

The trophy presentation ceremony experienced a significant delay, reportedly due to an hour-long standoff. During the ACC meeting, Naqvi expressed his frustration, recounting how he arrived at the podium ready to award the medals and trophy to Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team, only to be left waiting in vain. He said the incident made him “look like a cartoon.”

On their part, the BCCI has issued a stern warning to Naqvi, stating they will escalate the matter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) if the trophy isn’t returned promptly.
