How to unlock safes in Battlefield 6: REDSEC

Tall, black steel safes are scattered around the Fort Lyndon map in *Battlefield 6: REDSEC*, and they hold some tantalizing goodies behind their big locks. Unlocking these safes is a simple matter—provided you or one of your teammates made an important choice before starting the match.

### How to Unlock Safes in Battlefield 6: REDSEC

To unlock a safe in *Battlefield 6: REDSEC*, you or someone on your team needs to be an Engineer. Once you have an Engineer on your squad, use the Repair Tool on the safe’s lock for about five seconds. Fulfill both of these requirements, and the safe should pop open.

Inside, you’ll find a weapon or two, a grenade, and maybe some Superior Intel. While the loot isn’t nearly as full as what you’d get from a Weapons Cache mission gun locker, you don’t need to work nearly as hard to get at the goodies inside a REDSEC safe.

### When to Prioritize Opening Safes

Due to the smaller amount of loot, I recommend opening safes mainly during the early part of a match, particularly shortly after your initial landing. The gear inside, though limited, is often of better quality than what you’d find at your starting zone.

If the Weapons Cache mission is one of your first available options, I highly recommend completing it in addition to opening the safes. The volume of loot from Weapons Cache is much higher, and while the weapons are usually of green rarity, upgrade kits are plentiful. The real prizes here are Strike Packages, RPGs, and other hard-to-come-by ordnance.

### Why You Should Always Have an Engineer on Your Team

Being able to unlock safes is just one reason to always have at least one Engineer on your team in *BF6: REDSEC*. Another crucial advantage is dealing with the tanks that other teams will inevitably bring into the fight.

By having an Engineer ready with the Repair Tool, your squad gains strategic versatility both in securing valuable loot and countering enemy armor effectively.
