How Missions Work in Battlefield 6: REDSEC
Missions are one of the easiest and best ways to gear up in the early parts of a match in Battlefield 6: REDSEC. Completing them awards valuable supplies, weapons, and upgrade materials without needing to scavenge the map for loot crates. Here’s how they work.
During the first part of a REDSEC match, you’ll get access to a new set of missions every 45-55 seconds. Depending on how long the match has been going, you can choose between two and three missions. You’ll also get a preview of the rewards before you accept any mission.
When a new set of missions becomes available, press your Map button to open the mission UI and choose from up to three nearby missions. Note that missions more than 500 meters away won’t be selectable—they will appear greyed out with an X through them in the UI.
Once you select a mission, a countdown timer will start at the top of your screen, and the nearby objectives will be marked on your HUD. Most missions are straightforward, although some, like the Signal Hack “Align Antennas” mission, can be a bit tricky.
After completing a mission, a reward airdrop will appear somewhere in the mission area. This airdrop contains a selection of items based on the rewards preview you saw when you chose the mission.
How to Complete Each Mission in REDSEC
Most missions involve simple tasks: going to a location, destroying or picking up an item, and sometimes standing in a designated area to make a progress bar fill up. Some missions have a PvP focus, showing your squad’s location while they’re active, but the majority are safe.
Here’s a quick guide on how to complete each mission type:
| Mission Name | Completion Requirements |
|---|---|
| Decryption | Find two data caches, pick them up, then move slowly to decrypt them. Running stops decryption. |
| Weapons Cache | Pick up a pair of bolt cutters, then use them to breach the marked container. |
| Signal Hack | Reach two antennas and align them to the signal, then hold a point for about 30 seconds. |
| Wreckage | Pick up the marked bomb then plant it and protect it from being defused. |
| Evasion | Find the three marked enemy surveillance devices and shoot them to destroy them. |
| Interception | Track down the team decrypting devices, kill them, and take the decryption for yourself. |
| Extraction | Go to the marked data drives and stay near them while they download, then take the drives to the extraction point. Place them both in the arriving drone. |
Mission Rewards and When to Take Them
REDSEC missions offer a wide variety of rewards, including weapons, upgrade kits, supplies, and even access to airstrikes and vehicles. Which rewards you choose will depend on your current needs.
Early in the match, it’s highly recommended to prioritize missions that provide weapons, ammo, and essential supplies. Ideally, aim for rewards of purple rarity, and try to secure reward crates that contain more than one item.
High amounts of Training Path XP are also valuable, as they allow you and your squad to unlock additional class bonuses faster. Once you’ve settled on your weapon loadout, focus on missions that provide extra supplies like armor plates and upgrade kits.
Mission drops are some of the best and most consistent ways to get high-rarity upgrades. As the safe zone shrinks, you’ll want to carry as many armor plates as possible.
You’ll typically only have time for about three missions before they become unavailable later in the match—fewer if you get caught up in long fights.
Here’s a quick summary of recommended mission reward priorities:
- Weapons and supplies
- Upgrade kits and additional supplies
- Strike Packages
- Vehicle access and higher-rarity gear
How Long Can You Do Missions in REDSEC?
Missions become unavailable in a REDSEC match after 10-15 minutes or when there are 40 or fewer players left alive. The threshold of 35-40 players remaining is the most consistent trigger, with match duration playing a lesser role.
Most matches will reach the 40-player mark within 15 minutes, making that a solid rule of thumb for when missions end. Unless you hot-drop into a very crowded zone, you should have time to complete at least one or two missions before the late-match period begins.
Keep in mind that some missions, like Decrypt Beacons, act as PvP magnets—they can draw enemy squads to your location in an attempt to steal rewards. This adds risk but can be used strategically to engage opponents on your terms.
Good luck on the battlefield, and make the most of your missions in REDSEC!
