It is no secret that United States President Donald Trump has a strong aversion to “illegal aliens.” However, his intense feelings are primarily directed at those individuals who do not provide him with any personal advantage or fulfill his needs.
Recently, while aboard Air Force One on his way to a meeting with several world leaders, including South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the treatment of South Korean workers at the Georgia Hyundai plant during the September ICE raids, which led to the deportation of hundreds.
For those who may not be aware, after the raids, the workers left the U.S. and chose not to return due to the disrespect they faced. Trump, while discussing this unfortunate situation, stated:
“I was opposed to getting [the South Korean workers] out. In fact, before they got out, I said they could stay. And they’re going to be coming back.”
He also justified his desire for them to return to the United States, emphasizing that their work is very specialized, which makes them irreplaceable. He said:
“When they come in, they’re making very complex machinery, equipment, things. They’re going to have to bring some people in, at least at that initial phase.”
Many who heard Trump’s comments about the South Korean workers saw through his motives and noted that he was attempting to mend relations with South Korea, fearing that the U.S. might lose out on crucial alliances.
One individual on X (formerly Twitter) wrote:
“Months ago Trump was acting like it was the South Koreans’ fault ICE rounded them up at the Hyundai factory in Georgia. Now he’s losing money from South Korea and is changing his story.”
“Soooo confused! Illegal immigrants are ok when it suits your personal financial needs or political needs? So we Americans aren’t crazy when we believe you are targeting immigrants just as an excuse to install federal state police across the USA in order to consolidate and steal power away from the people of America,” said another person while shedding light on Trump’s real motives.
Several others shared similar sentiments as they criticized Trump’s stance and actions.
