Glamours have long provided a fun way for Final Fantasy 14 players to express themselves by allowing them to overlay the armor appearance they want over their actual gear. This system lets players customize their look without sacrificing stats. However, a notable restriction on this system is about to be lifted in the upcoming December update.
Square Enix revealed this exciting change in a recent Letter from the Producer video. In Patch 7.4, set to launch on all platforms in mid-December, glamours will no longer be restricted by level or job/class. Previously, if you had a Lancer glamour for a chest plate, you couldn’t equip it on a Dark Knight’s armor. That limitation is now being removed, giving players much more freedom to mix and match their looks.
The only exception to this new rule will be weapons. Due to mechanical constraints—and to prevent visually awkward combinations—weapon glamours will still have restrictions in place. This makes sense, as weapons have unique appearances and animations tied to each class.
For fashion-forward players, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 is shaping up to be a highly anticipated update. It comes on the heels of a recent collaboration event that brought Monster Hunter: World items, characters, cosmetics, and even the mighty Arkfeld dragon into the game.
Overall, this update marks another big step forward for player customization, enhancing the ability of players to showcase their personal style within the immersive world of Final Fantasy 14.
