With Facebook (now known as Meta) posting its Q3 2025 earnings results, the company also revealed its various costs and losses. Unsurprisingly, Meta Reality Labs once again appeared among the significant losses.
Meta Reality Labs, the VR/AR division of Meta, has consistently been a major source of quarterly losses, and Q3 2025 was no exception. This quarter, the segment cost Facebook $4.432 billion.
The company published its Q3 2025 earnings results, including Meta Reality Labs’ losses for the quarter, on its investor relations website this week. The $4.432 billion loss in Q3 2025 represented a slight improvement compared to the previous quarter, Q2 2025, which recorded $4.5 billion in losses.
However, when compared year-over-year, Q3 2025 losses were still higher than those in Q3 2024, which saw the segment post $4.4 billion in losses.
Since its inception, Meta Reality Labs has almost always contributed billions in losses to Meta’s bottom line. While the company has arguably driven more innovation than most other players in the AR and VR sectors, it has yet to generate any positive financial gains for Meta.
