EIC programme managers have to handle up to 300 projects each

Programme managers for the European Innovation Council (EIC) play a crucial role in driving technological breakthroughs. They are responsible for envisioning innovative technologies and selecting the funding teams capable of bringing these ideas to life.

According to the council’s president, Michiel Scheffer, each of the EIC’s ten programme managers oversees a significant number of projects—ranging from 20 up to 300. This wide range highlights the varying workloads across managers.

Scheffer noted that managing up to 300 projects per manager could be “quite problematic,” pointing to potential challenges in effectively supervising such a large portfolio. The capacity to manage these projects efficiently is essential for the EIC to continue fostering groundbreaking innovations across Europe.
