Cardinals’ Kyler Murray gets hopeful injury update ahead of Cowboys clash

The Arizona Cardinals have been without quarterback Kyler Murray for the past two games as he recovers from a foot injury sustained during the narrow 22-21 Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans. However, there is optimism that Murray could make his return in Week 9 for the Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

According to the latest news on NFL.com, head coach Jonathan Gannon and the Cardinals are preparing for Murray to start against Dallas. While the 28-year-old signal-caller is not yet fully cleared to play, Gannon emphasized that Murray must be “fully healthy” before taking the field again. This marks a significant step forward in Murray’s recovery process.

“QB Kyler Murray (foot) has missed the Cardinals’ past two games, but head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that they’re preparing for Murray to start Monday’s game against the Cowboys. Gannon said that Murray will need to get ‘fully healthy’ in order to play Week 9,” the report stated. Veteran Jacoby Brissett started both of the games Murray missed, which unfortunately resulted in losses for Arizona.

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Cardinals so far, with quarterback issues seemingly holding the team back. Despite the challenges, Murray’s potential return as the starter could provide a much-needed boost to the offense in the second half of the season.

Through the games he has played, Murray has recorded 962 passing yards, 173 rushing yards, and seven total touchdowns—six of which came through the air—while completing 68.3% of his pass attempts. His dual-threat ability as both a passer and a runner is a dynamic the Cardinals have missed during his absence, and his return could help restore that versatility moving forward.
