Booker T calls out his friend, Goldberg

Booker T Calls Out Goldberg Over Comments About Asuka and WWE’s Treatment of Young Talent

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently spoke out regarding comments made by his friend and fellow Hall of Famer, Goldberg. The two legends share a storied history inside the squared circle, having faced off multiple times during their careers. However, Goldberg recently stirred controversy when he referred to Asuka as “some girl” who had surpassed his winning streak in WCW, while also accusing WWE of showing bias against him.

Asuka responded gracefully, stating that Goldberg’s remarks were “not a big deal.” Despite her measured reply, fans online have continued to debate the topic extensively.

Booker T Shares His Perspective on the Hall of Fame Podcast

Booker T weighed in on the issue during his Hall of Fame podcast when a fan asked for his thoughts. The former King of the Ring winner emphasized that veterans should avoid overstepping their bounds when it comes to critiquing the younger generation.

“You know, I hate to say this because Goldberg’s a friend of mine. But I think these old guys need to stay out of what these young guys are doing. We had our time. For us to think about, in any way, knocking what these young guys and girls are doing today, it’s just totally out of bounds. We had our time in the sunshine, we ran with it, it was a great time,” Booker T said.

He went on to explain that while critiquing wrestling is part of a veteran’s role, speaking negatively about the new talent is unhelpful and wrong.

“For us to talk about what these young guys are doing right now in a negative way, I think it’s wrong in any way, shape, or form. Critiquing the wrestling is something we do,” he added.

Bully Ray Defends Goldberg’s Comments

While many fans criticized Goldberg on social media, he found an ally in Bully Ray. Speaking on Busted Open, Bully Ray defended Goldberg’s statements, noting that aside from possibly mispronouncing Asuka’s name, there was nothing wrong with his comments.

He also agreed with Goldberg’s point about coming from WCW and not being a product of WWE’s system. According to Bully Ray, Goldberg’s candidness about being treated differently was valid, given that he “wasn’t made in the WWE test tube.”
