An ailing Novak Djokovic was knocked out of the Shanghai Masters semifinals on Saturday by world number 204 Valentin Vacherot. The 26-year-old qualifier from Monaco defeated Djokovic 6-3, 6-4, denying him a record-extending fifth title in Shanghai.

A hobbling Djokovic, 38, struggled throughout the match and even threw up courtside during play, receiving medical attention as he battled to continue.

This surprising upset marks a significant moment, as the Serbian star was aiming to secure yet another Masters title on his resume. Despite the loss, Djokovic had previously pushed through to the Shanghai Masters quarterfinals with determination and skill.

The victory for Vacherot is a remarkable achievement, showcasing the unpredictable nature of tennis and the emergence of new talent on the tour.
