A former WWE champion has stirred the pot by revealing that he approached All Elite Wrestling (AEW), but the Jacksonville-based promotion showed no interest in signing him. The star in question is Enzo Amore, a former two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion who left the Stamford-based company amid serious allegations in 2018.
After departing WWE, Amore competed across various promotions including Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and Impact Wrestling. However, he never worked for AEW. Now performing under the ring name The Real1—an alias he adopted when he started his rap career—he has finally opened up about why he never joined Tony Khan’s promotion.
Speaking in an interview with No-Contest Wrestling, the 38-year-old revealed that he did consider AEW and even reached out to them, but was ultimately declined. He also took a jab at how AEW has been underutilizing his former WWE tag team partner, Big Bill (formerly known as Big Cass).
“AEW was something that I considered. I reached out. They had no interest. I’ll wait for you guys to do something with Big Bill who’s seven feet tall and should be beating the sht out of all of you,” said Real1. [H/T: RingsideNews]
### Enzo Amore Has Taken Digs at AEW Before
Interestingly, this interview with No-Contest Wrestling isn’t the first time Enzo has publicly called out AEW. Earlier this year, The Real1 posted a scathing promo on Instagram while standing in front of MetLife Stadium, criticizing the promotion’s ability to build genuine stars.
“I’m here at S***life Stadium, but it could be worse. I could be in an empty parking lot like AEW. Actually, I could be in the used car parking lot called AEW, where a star has never been born,” he ranted.

### What’s Next for Real1 and AEW?
There appears to be significant tension between Real1 and AEW, making it unlikely that Enzo Amore will be signing with Tony Khan’s promotion anytime soon. However, wrestling is a constantly evolving business, and nothing can ever be ruled out completely.
