1971 AMC AMX 5-Speed at No Reserve

This 1971 AMC Javelin AMX has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment under previous ownership, making it a standout example of this classic muscle car. The restoration work included repainting the body in silver and refreshing the black interior to bring new life to this iconic American vehicle.

Under the hood, the 360 cubic inch V8 engine has been enhanced with performance upgrades such as an Edelbrock intake manifold, an Edelbrock 650-cfm carburetor, chrome Milodon valve covers, and an Accel Super Coil. Cooling is improved with a Champion aluminum radiator complemented by an auxiliary electric cooling fan. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission, offering an engaging driving experience.

Visually, the car features a striking black “T” stripe that stretches across the front end and the cowl-induction hood, adding a classic muscle car flair. Additional exterior touches include front and rear spoilers, tri-color AMX badging, LED headlights, dual side mirrors, bright trim, and chrome bumpers. The body rides on silver-finished 15″ styled steel wheels fitted with 245/60 front and 275/60 rear Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T tires, while braking is managed by front discs and rear drums.

Inside the cabin, the refurbishment brought new life to the black vinyl and cloth upholstery on the front bucket seats and rear bench. The color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting create a cohesive and comfortable interior ambiance. Notable features include air conditioning, a Hurst T-handle shifter, a RetroSound digital stereo, AMX badging, and polished doorsills for an added touch of elegance.

The cockpit is driver-focused, with a three-spoke steering wheel positioned ahead of an engine-turned instrument panel. Here, you’ll find a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and a multifunction gauge. Additional AutoMeter gauges for water temperature and oil pressure are mounted on the steering column. The five-digit odometer reads 62,000 miles.

This Javelin AMX was acquired by the selling dealer in October 2025 and comes with a clean Georgia title. The previous owner reported that the exterior refurbishment, including repainting in silver and replacement of chrome trim, was completed in 2023.

The chassis-number plate corresponds to a 1971 Javelin AMX coupe equipped with a 360ci V8, a four-barrel carburetor, and a four-speed manual transmission, confirming its authenticity.

Originally, American Motors Corporation built just 2,054 examples of the 1971 AMX, making this well-maintained and thoughtfully upgraded Javelin a rare find. It is now offered for sale in Florida at no reserve, presenting an excellent opportunity for muscle car enthusiasts and collectors alike.
