**‘SOTY’ Actor Arrested at Chennai Airport for Smuggling 3.5 kg Cocaine**

In a major drug bust, a Bollywood supporting actor was arrested at Chennai Airport on Sunday after authorities recovered 3.5 kilograms of cocaine from his possession. The seized cocaine is estimated to be worth around ₹35 crore in the international market. The operation was carried out jointly by Chennai Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), according to reports from the Times of India.
**How the Case Unfolded**
The actor, who played a minor role in Karan Johar’s *Student of the Year* (SOTY), was intercepted by air intelligence officials early Sunday morning. He had just arrived from Singapore when customs officers discovered plastic pouches containing white powder concealed in a false compartment at the bottom of his trolley.
A field test conducted on the substance confirmed it to be cocaine.
**Contradictory Statements from the Actor**
During questioning, the actor claimed he was merely a courier. He stated that he received the trolley in Cambodia from unidentified individuals and was instructed to deliver it to someone at Chennai Airport.
However, officials remain skeptical of this explanation. Investigators suspect that the actor intended to smuggle the drugs further to major cities such as Mumbai or Delhi, where large organized drug syndicates operate.
**Ongoing Investigation**
The investigation is still underway. Customs officials are currently reviewing the actor’s travel history to determine if he has been involved in any previous drug smuggling activities.
Meanwhile, the DRI is working to unravel the larger drug trafficking network behind this operation.
This recent bust is the second significant cocaine seizure at Chennai Airport in just two weeks. Earlier this month, authorities confiscated 5.6 kg of cocaine hidden inside Ferrero Rocher chocolate cans.
