**‘SOTY’ Actor Arrested at Chennai Airport for Smuggling Cocaine**

In a major drug bust, a Bollywood supporting actor was arrested at Chennai Airport on Sunday for allegedly smuggling cocaine. Authorities recovered 3.5 kg of cocaine from the actor, with an estimated market value of around ₹35 crore internationally. The operation was a joint effort conducted by Chennai Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), reported The Times of India.
**How the Case Unfolded**
The actor, known for a minor role in Karan Johar’s *Student of the Year*, was stopped by air intelligence officials early Sunday morning upon his arrival from Singapore. During the inspection, customs officials found several plastic pouches containing white powder concealed in a false compartment at the bottom of his trolley.
A field test confirmed that the substance was cocaine.
**Contradictory Statements from the Actor**
During questioning, the actor claimed he was merely a courier. He stated that he received the trolley in Cambodia from unidentified individuals and was instructed to deliver it to someone at Chennai Airport.
However, officials suspect a larger agenda, believing the actor intended to smuggle the drugs further to major cities such as Mumbai or Delhi, notorious for organized drug syndicates.
**Ongoing Investigation**
The investigation is still underway. Customs officials are examining the actor’s travel history to determine if he has been involved in previous drug smuggling cases. Simultaneously, the DRI is working to uncover the broader network behind this operation.
This incident marks the second significant cocaine seizure at Chennai Airport within two weeks. Earlier this month, authorities recovered 5.6 kg of cocaine hidden inside Ferrero Rocher chocolate cans.
