Sri Lankan batter Kusal Perera showcased his exceptional balance and athleticism to take a stunning catch during the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 match against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The remarkable dismissal occurred in the 11th over of the innings when Afghanistan’s Darwish Rasooli attempted to hit a six over the third man fielder. Perera, positioned slightly inside the boundary line, leapt to take the catch overhead. Demonstrating incredible control, he balanced himself without touching the boundary and managed to throw the ball back inside after realizing he was nearing the edge.
The 35-year-old took the catch comfortably after returning inside the field of play. The third umpire reviewed the incident multiple times before confirming the out.
Perera’s agility was on full display earlier in the match as well, when he took another spectacular catch during the powerplay, dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz off Nuwan Thushara’s bowling.
In the pre-match toss, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. Both teams are eager to secure a victory in this crucial Group B clash.
