Japan and Saudi Arabia Sign Entertainment Partnership Deal

SBI, a leading internet-based financial institution, has announced a partnership with a Middle Eastern firm to support the development of Saudi Arabia’s gaming sector. This collaboration is part of a broader initiative, with approximately one-third of the 19 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed focusing on entertainment and content.

In addition to this, renowned Japanese game developer PlatinumGames plans to establish a new gaming company in collaboration with a local firm in Saudi Arabia. This move aligns with Japan’s ambition to transform its content industry into a major export sector, opening up significant new business opportunities.

PlatinumGames, founded in 2006 through the merger of two smaller studios, is headquartered in Osaka. The company is celebrated for its distinctive action titles and commitment to creative independence. Its reputation is built on producing stylish, fast-paced action games featuring unique mechanics and strong artistic direction.

Some of PlatinumGames’ most notable works include *Bayonetta*, *NieR: Automata* (developed in collaboration with Square Enix), *Astral Chain*, and *Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance*. These titles have received critical acclaim for their innovative combat systems, fluid gameplay, and distinctive visual style, cementing the studio’s global recognition.

This collaboration between SBI, PlatinumGames, and local partners is expected to drive growth and innovation in Saudi Arabia’s gaming and entertainment landscape, while also strengthening Japan’s presence in the global content market.
