**Culinary Content Creator Ninong Ry Expresses Frustration Over Anomalous Flood Control Projects Amid Repeated Flooding in Malabon**
Culinary content creator Ninong Ry took to social media on Monday, September 22, to express his frustration over alleged anomalous flood control projects, citing the repeated flooding that has affected his home in Malabon City.
“Hindi deserve ng Pilipino to. Hindi natin deserve na paulit-ulit anurin. Hindi. Pinagdadasal ko na sana kung sino man ang mga taong nasa likod nito e magbayad. Kaso putek nagawa na yung mga projects e. Pag inayos kailangan ulit ng budget. San kukunin ang budget?? Satin pa din,” Ninong Ry wrote.
“Galit na may katambal na lungkot ang nararamdaman ko. Walang mapaglagyan. Hindi ako makatulog. Sila kaya, nakakatulog pa?” he added.
“Tama na to. Hindi natin [deserve] to. Ayusin nyo to. Hindi namin deserve to,” Ninong Ry concluded.
In his lengthy post, he shared how the toll of repeated flooding on his family has shaped his life in flood-prone Malabon.
“Buong buhay ko, binabaha na kami. Mahirap, pero naging parte na ng buhay namin. Natutunan naming tanggapin. Natutunan naming mag-adapt,” he shared.
“Pero ganun nga ba talaga? Dapat ba ganto kahirap? Dapat ba ganto kasalimuot? Oo kaya natin, pero deserve ba natin?” the vlogger asked.
He admitted that while his online posts about floods often seem lighthearted, the reality has been devastating.
“Nakikita nyo sa mga post namin tungkol sa baha na parang tinatawanan lang namin. Ang totoo, hindi. Naiiyak ako sa napakaraming pagkakataon na kinailangan ko ulit magsimulabili ng bagong gamit, pagawa ng motor, mga family album na inanod,” he wrote.
“Sabi niya sakin di siya pwedeng lumusong kasi sariwa pa hiwa ng CS niya. Patawa kong sinabi na bubuhatin ko na lang siya at yung mga bata isasakay ko sa batya,” he said. But behind the joke was despair as he watched hard-earned possessions and irreplaceable memories float away.
For the vlogger, floods have long been a part of life, but they are not something Filipinos should simply accept.
“Tumanda akong matibay dahil dito. Hindi lang ako, pati ang milyong-milyong mga Pilipino,” he said.
“Kaso ang tanong. Deserve ba natin? Isa, dalawang beses, baka ok lang e. Minsan delubyo talaga. Pero yung ganto? Yung paulit-ulit na? Di natin deserve to,” he added.
This is not the first time the food vlogger has spoken about the issue. In August, he revealed that he was considering relocating after repeated floods damaged his space, despite earlier appeals for long-term solutions. He shared then that he had been eyeing a new studio as a potential move.

The vlogger has frequently shared glimpses of flooding in his Malabon home. Last July 22, he posted photos of his submerged kitchen and studio during heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones.

A year earlier, he also shared updates when his home was hit by floods worsened by Super Typhoon Carina (Gaemi). Despite the damage, he previously said he had developed a sense of acceptance as a resident of flood-prone Malabon, but still shared a hopeful message: *“Makakaahon din tayo. Laban lang.”*
