Bhopal News: Police Headquarters Raises Financial Aid To Kin Of Deceased Police Personnel After 8 Years

**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police Headquarters Increases Financial Assistance for Families of Deceased Police Personnel**

Following the implementation of the New Pension Scheme (NPS), the Police Headquarters (PHQ) has raised the financial assistance provided to families of police personnel who died during service. The amount has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Families will begin receiving the enhanced assistance starting October 1.

The decision to revise the assistance amount comes in response to the depreciation in the value of the rupee and the impact of the NPS implementation over the past eight years. The welfare program, which started on December 21, 1999, initially provided Rs 20,000 to families. It was subsequently increased to Rs 35,000 in 2011, Rs 50,000 in 2014, and then to Rs 1 lakh in 2016. The amount remained unchanged until now.

Special Director General of Police Anil Kumar stated that PHQ has issued clear instructions to all units to strictly follow the scheme to avoid any irregularities. He added that during the state-level advisory committee meeting held on September 19, the scheme was revised and the increase was approved.

Every police personnel wishing to join the scheme must contribute Rs 1,200 per year. The increased financial assistance will be available to all ranks who submit their contributions without delay, including IPS officers and police personnel on deputation in other government departments who also contribute to the scheme.

This revision aims to provide better support and financial security to the families of those who serve and sacrifice for the state.
