**Bollywood Actor Rani Mukerji Opens Up About Her Journey at India Today Conclave 2025**

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji recently shared insights into her remarkable journey in the film industry during the India Today Conclave 2025. Her session, titled *”Queen of Reinvention: National Award to Motherhood, Winning it All,”* touched upon various aspects of her life and career, including her faith, patience, and her recent National Award win for *Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.*

### Emotional Moment: Losing the National Award for *Black*

Rani Mukerji opened up about the disappointment she felt when she did not win the National Award for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2005 film *Black*. Reflecting on that time, she said,
>”I gave my all in *Black*, and I was just 25 at that time when I did that film. There was chatter that I would win, and when I didn’t, that’s when my blinkers came on. I’ve to be honest and tell you that my father was very disappointed.”

She added that both her father and the film’s director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, were heartbroken by the loss.

### Acceptance: When Things Are Meant to Happen, They Happen

Mukerji revealed how she came to terms with the setback, saying,
>”My baba was very heartbroken that I didn’t win that year. So was Sanjay. But I guess when things are meant to happen, they happen. The way India and my fans cheered for me later, it couldn’t have been better than that.”

### Spiritual Connection: Remembering Her Late Father

Asked whether she felt her late father’s presence on the day of her National Award win, Mukerji shared,
>”Absolutely. The day I received the news of my National Award, I was in the room where he had passed. It was just too beautiful a moment because Dad was with me throughout the day, and it was as if he had made it happen.”

### Career Milestone: Winning Her First National Award for *Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway*

Winning her first National Award was a significant milestone in Mukerji’s career. She said,
>”I think the award means so much for my fans and well-wishers. As you know, I am winning this for the first time. I have actually been like a horse with blinkers. My single-minded focus has always been toward my craft, not to disappoint my audience.”

### Career Gratitude: Thanking Director Karan Johar

Mukerji also expressed her appreciation for director Karan Johar, who cast her as Tina in the iconic film *Kuch Kuch Hota Hai*. She said,
>”The success of the film is not really in our hands. But what we can do is to do our best that I can deliver. That’s what I have done for the last 30 years.”

Through her candid reflections, Rani Mukerji showcased the resilience, dedication, and gratitude that have defined her enduring career in Bollywood.
